Easy Recipe: McDonald's x BTS Cajun Sauce

I am not a BTS Army, but I do enjoy the BTS x McDonald's meal. The meal features 10-pieces chicken nuggets with limited-edition sweet chili & cajun sauce. The sweet chili sauce is pretty generic. You can get it from your local grocery store. It tastes pretty similar to the Thai sweet chili sauce that you can get off the shelf. However, the cajun sauce is something special.

Since it is a limited edition and possibly will not return to McDonald's menu in the future, I thought you'd like to know how to recreate the sauce at home.

Surprisingly, it is so easy and you only need a few ingredients which you might already have in your kitchen. I paired it with my own homemade fish nuggets and hand-cut fries.

The utensils that you need are a mixing bowl, measurement spoon, and a whisk or spoon to mix the ingredients.

  • 100g Mayonnaise (approximately half cup)
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun spices (I'm using the AEON home brand cajun spice which already mixed with black pepper and thyme. McCormick has the cajun spice by itself)
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard
  • A quarter wedge of Lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • A dash of Pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Tomato sauce (for coloring)

Just mix all the ingredients together. As simple as A-B-C. If you have a food processor, you can use it to get a smoother texture. Otherwise, mixing it manually is also fine.

Other than eating it as your regular dipping sauce, you can also use the cajun sauce for:

  • Adding to the al dante pasta as the base sauce
  • Adding to pan-seared salmon/seabass as the base sauce
  • Salad dressing
